About Prayer Times in Jeddah

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia's second-largest city and its main commercial port on the Red Sea, has served for centuries as the gateway to Mecca for pilgrims arriving by sea. Today, the city's King Abdulaziz International Airport handles the largest annual influx of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in the world. With a population of approximately 4.5 million, Jeddah is one of Saudi Arabia's most cosmopolitan cities, home to significant communities from across the Muslim world who settled here after completing pilgrimage or arriving for trade and work.

Jeddah follows the Umm al-Qura method — the official standard across Saudi Arabia — which sets Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib throughout most of the year. At 21.5°N latitude, prayer times are similar to Mecca but shift slightly due to the difference in longitude. Fajr falls between roughly 4:10 AM (summer) and 5:45 AM (winter), while Maghrib ranges from 6:00 PM to 7:20 PM. All five prayers are announced over mosque loudspeakers that echo through the old quarter of Al-Balad and the modern city alike.

The historic district of Al-Balad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is studded with traditional coral-stone houses and mosques including the Al-Shafi'i Mosque, one of the oldest in Jeddah dating to the early Islamic period. The vast King Fahd Fountain — the world's tallest fountain — overlooks the Red Sea Corniche and the coastal mosque strip. Jeddah's cosmopolitan Muslim community makes its Ramadan season particularly vivid, with Iftar tents along the corniche drawing families from dozens of nationalities throughout the holy month.
