Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana state in southern India, was the seat of the Nizam of Hyderabad — one of the wealthiest and most powerful Muslim rulers in British India. The city's Muslim population of approximately 1.5–2 million forms around 25–30% of its population, one of the highest proportions among major Indian cities. Hyderabad's Muslim identity is associated with a refined Deccani culture that blends Persian, Arabic, and Telugu influences — visible in its cuisine, Urdu dialect, architecture, and centuries-old traditions of Islamic scholarship.

Hyderabad's Muslim community uses the Muslim World League method (Fajr at 18°).
